It is a late Friday afternoon on July 22nd, 2011, and we are on the campus of Umpqua Community College, north of Roseburg, Oregon in the Northwestern United States. Several buses from the UTrans Public Transportation Service of Douglas County are arriving and departing on their last run of the day to and from the campus.

As evening approaches, we bid farewell to the campus of Umpqua Community College. UCC is a 12-minute drive north from Roseburg, Oregon on Interstate 5, and a 1 1/2 hour drive southeast from the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area on the Oregon coast. The UCC campus sits 120 feet (36.6 meters) above the scenic, winding North Umpqua River that surrounds the campus on three sides in a horseshoe fashion.
